In over 30 years of legal work, lawyers at Quinn Land Solicitors have represented clients charged with just about every criminal offence imaginable. If you’ve been accused of it, we’ve got the experience to deal with your situation. We have particular expertise in cross-border crime including matters such as parental child abduction, drug and weapons importation and facilitation/immigration offences (people smuggling), but statistically, most of our cases involve ‘traditional offences’; assault, robbery, murder, theft, burglary, rape, stalking, harassment, criminal damage, driving offences and so on. In short, if it’s a crime, we can represent you.
Our reputation is for quality, and we can provide exceptional representation in the Police Station, Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court, Court of Appeal, High Court and Supreme Court. If you need legal representation, get in touch using the button below.
We can attend any Police Station in the country, day or night, to represent you if you have been arrested or if you have been asked to attend as a volunteer to be interviewed by an officer. This service is available for free to anyone; the Legal Aid scheme provides this funding and it is not means tested so you will be eligible. If you have been arrested, just tell the police you want Quinn Land Solicitors to represent you and they will contact us. Alternatively, if you are attending the police station by appointment, just get in touch with us and we will assist.
Please note that whilst this service is very good, it is somewhat limited in scope as it is provided under the Legal Aid Scheme. It essentially means we get paid to attend the Police Station, take your instructions there and represent you during your interview. We therefore also offer a Private Client Police Station Service for those who demand a ‘gold standard' service. This generally involves meetings in advance of the Police Station attendance to take full instructions, discuss tactics and prepare the case much more thoroughly as well as meetings after the attendance to consider work we can undertake to reduce the chances of you facing Court proceedings.
We can represent clients before any Magistrates’ Court or Youth Court in the Country for all types of offences.
All lawyers at Quinn Land have been attending Magistrates’ and Youth Courts on an almost daily basis for many years. We know the legal process inside and out and we will ensure you are well-represented throughout.
Beyond the law, however, we recognise that attending Court can be incredibly stressful for you, particularly if you’re a youth, vulnerable or have any underlying disabilities or mental health conditions. Everyone at Quinn Land does this job because we want to help people. As a result, we will not rush you or try to confuse you. We will not pressure you into pleading guilty when you’re not and vice versa. We will take our time to explain things thoroughly and as many times as you need. We welcome you attending with a friend or family member for support if you wish; ultimately we want to give you the best possible service and we will take the time to understand what that best service involves for you.
If you want us to represent you in the Magistrates’ Court, simply get in touch with us and we will take you through what needs to be done.
Legal Aid can often be obtained to fund Magistrates’ Court representation at no charge to you. For Legal Aid to be available, there are many factors that must be considered such as the seriousness of the case and your personal financial situation. Call us to discuss your personal situation and we will take you through your options, applying for Legal Aid on your behalf where appropriate.
If Legal Aid is not available, or if you wish to make use of our Private Client Service, click the button below for further funding information.
At Quinn Land, we not only have Solicitors who appear in the Magistrates’ Court but also advocates with Higher Rights meaning they are qualified to appear in Crown Courts too.
The Crown Courts generally deal with more serious and complex offences and trials there are ordinarily before a Judge and jury. Traditionally, Solicitors would represent clients in Magistrates’ Courts, prepare cases for trial in the Crown Courts and then Barristers would be instructed to provide the advocacy in the Crown Courts.
Whilst we will still often instruct the country's highest regarded barristers on your behalf, to work with us as part of the team defending you, it is a distinct advantage to also have our own, appropriately qualified Crown Court advocates so we have the option to keep the work in-house should you prefer. We will always act in your best interests when recommending one option or the other and our recommendation will be unique to both the circumstances of the case and you individually.
Legal Aid is also available in the Crown Court. Cases there are considered to be serious enough by right to justify the granting of Legal Aid, however, your means are also assessed. That means that Legal Aid will be granted to cover our costs, so you will not owe us anything, but you may be ordered to make a financial contribution to the Court if you are judged to have sufficient means (income or capital) to pay. If you are found not guilty or the case against you is dropped, any contribution you paid to the Crown Court will be returned to you with interest.
